Neonatal nurse led services that support new parents to confidently care for their newborn baby.

About us

Caroline Tunley and Katherine Williams are the founders and owners of Serenity Neonatal Clinic, Cheshire. We are both experienced senior neonatal nurses, with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in our specialist nursing area of the intensive care of the neonate. Together we have worked hard to create a service where our passion for providing outstanding family centred care, along with our newborn expertise, is used to support parents from the beginning of their parenting journey, to become confident in all aspects of caring for their baby.

Speaking to parents we recognised that support services are lacking for parents in the early weeks with their newborn, leading to parents’ not knowing who to turn to for support, and their mental health declining and families suffering in the long term as a result. We knew we could change this, so we have drawn upon on our skills, expertise, and the FiCare model, combined with our knowledge, dedication, and teamwork leading to the creation of the Serenity Neonatal Clinic.  We named our service ‘Serenity’, because we strive to support parents to be calm and have peace of mind in the chaotic, noisy world of parenting.

We are pleased to offer support services and education for parents and families of newborn babies, in order that they step into caring for their baby feeling confident and equipped to meet baby’s needs; our ultimate aim, to reduce parental stress and anxiety, allowing them to focus on enjoying their time with their baby.

The clinic offers a holistic approach to caring for your family, with education classes, physical and mental wellbeing support, infant feeding support & group advice and support sessions, along with a free support session monthly for NICU graduates where we support families of babies born prematurely or sick as a little nod to where we started. The clinic is based in Cheshire in the picturesque Crewe Hall farm complex, just outside of Crewe, with a dedicated clinic room for appointments and beautiful teaching space for you to enjoy both before and after the arrival of your baby.

We look forward to welcoming you to our clinic and working alongside you to support your family at this exciting time.

Katherine

Katherine initially qualified as adult nurse BN(hons) from the University of Chester, then worked as a community nurse in the local area. After a back injury she moved to neonatal nursing and instantly found a true love for the role, and a passion for family integrated care and supporting parents through education. Katherine qualified in speciality ‘intensive care of the neonate’ Level 7, at the University of Manchester and since moving to neonatal nursing has worked with the families of many sick and preterm babies.

Katherine has a real passion for supporting parents ensuring that they are confident to care for their baby. She is experienced in all aspects of supporting parents including breast/bottle feeding support, peri-natal mental health and parent education. Katherine is also a Resuscitation Council UK trained basic life support instructor (BLSi) and will also be running emergency first aid for the newborn/infant classes for parents, grandparents and carers. Teaching how to manage emergency situations as well as an understanding of when to seek support and where to seek it when your baby is unwell.

Katherine’s special interest lies in supporting foster children within neonatal care and after becoming a foster carer and the subsequent adoption of her son this became even more important to her. Knowing how important early development is especially for babies with complex needs, Katherine has completed a qualification in infant development which she intends to put to use in our foster carer support class, and baby sensory class, in order to support the physical and brain development of your babies.
